Artist Statement

My work serves as a reflection into the intersection of vulnerability, resilience and spiritual introspection, exploring the depths of human emotion and the quiet power of resilience. Through the meticulous rendering of figures that emerge from the darkness, embodying moments of tension, I explore the narratives of identity, emotion, human consciousness and the human experience.

The draping of fabric serves as both physical and metaphorical elements - fragility, strength and universality. I am particularly drawn to the symbolic and transformative potential of fabric; it flows, binds, protects and constrains. The fabric actively participates in the narrative, mirroring our desires for freedom, security and self-expression.

Whilst the themes I explore are contemporary: the weight of existence, the pursuit of self-awareness and the dialogue between struggle and transcendence, my compositions are rooted in storytelling, with each pose and gesture inviting the viewer to step into a shared emotional landscape.
Drawing inspiration from artists like Caravaggio, the Baroque period, literature and then infusing them with contemporary themes, I aim to create paintings that resonate on an emotional and subconscious level by emphasizing realism and detail, drawing the viewer into a space where time seems to stand still.

In essence, my art is an invitation to pause, witness and connect with the beauty and complexity of the human condition. It is a meditation on what it means to endure, rise, and find grace whilst living our journey on earth. I ask viewers to sit with their emotions and recognize their vulnerability and resilience.
